Rain rain go away…

By Sarah Hugill

Apologies all you lovely bloggers as I seem to have fallen off the face of the earth!

What with exams and then working full time i’ve been pretty rubbish at updating our blog, so it’s about time I get cracking!

I don’t know about you guys but I couldn’t wait for bank holiday weekend! No surprises it rained cats and dogs, typical English weather, so I decided to crack out my recent New Look purchases to brighten up my mood!

I worse a kimono (which I am slightly obsessed with at the moment, so many prints and colours to choose from!) this one caught my eye with the floral and bird print in a silvery shade so that you can wear it with pretty much any colour from New Look. I then wore a white vest top with detailing along the bottom also from New Look, a mint green, cream and white clutch back… you guessed it from New Look with a pair of leggings (as they’re quick drying) incase I got caught in a down pour.

I teamed the outfit with a spot of red lippy, dressing up the outfit for the occasion of a bank holiday meal out!

Summer colours

By Sarah Redman

This lovely little post contains a few outfits for my friend Georgia’s (of Life’s little Ponderings) 20th birthday!

I am loving this sunny weather and so are my girls. So for G’s birthday BBQ and night out we all chose summer brights for our outfits – sorry there are no full length photos (we may have been more focused on the Pimms than the photos).

From L to R: Sarah Redman, Alicia Berman (AB), Georgia Plummer (GP)

I wore my new patterned crop top from New Look (Blue Tribal Print Crop Vest £5.99), AB wore a simple red cami from Miss Selfridge, while birthday girl GP wore a yellow tee from ASOS (Petite top in texture £22.00) and stunning a statement necklace from Zara (retailing between £19.99 & £29.99).

My outfit was completed with a nude body con skirt from H&M and wooden chunky heals from Clarks. AB wore a white skort also from Miss Selfridge (Origami skort £30.00) and her shoes were nude heals from Russell and Bromley. GP competed her look with a floral patterned skort from ASOS (Premium skort in bright floral £35.00) and some awesome wedges from Topshop (Wish Buckle Espadrilles Black £42.00). Yes they are on my wish list so I knew them straight away!

Christmas is coming!

By Sarah Redman

It’s that time of year again and it’s safe to say I love a good Christmas decoration.

So I thought I would share with you all a recent addition to my Christmas bauble collection.

20131118-215206.jpg

This Wilko Jingle Bell Christmas Decoration costs £1.50 and is available in white and berry. This decoration genuinely does jingle and it is great value for the price tag. It has been popular, so is currently out of stock online, but your local store may still have some left or you can check out their Christmas shop.

Halloween Nail Art Inspiration

By Sarah Redman

Last year i missed Halloween as i was ill, so this year i am combating any illness with happy thoughts from my nails.

Below are a variety of nail designs for Halloween this year. You can do as i have and have something different for each nail or choose one (maybe it goes with your outfit?) and keep the theme across all your nails.

*Warning* you definitely need a steady hand for this, but give it a go. These are Halloween nails after all, so if the face of your ghost gets a little smudged then just call it artistic development and say its to make it look that little bit more scary…

20131025-194032.jpgThis first hand is my favorite, it was much easier to paint as i’m right handed. It also contains my favorite two designs the mummy face (on my thumb) and the monochrome ghost (on my ring finger). I think for Halloween i will be going monochrome and a mixture of these two designs.

20131025-201818.jpgThis hand i experimented with texture and colour, to be honest it was pretty fun. I also love how versatile my new Barry M nail foil is!

I hope this inspires you to sort some quirky nails for Halloween – its not all about the costume.

Please feel free to share your pictures with us on Twitter too!

Cheeky Little Christmas Chocolates

By Sarah Redman

To be perfectly honest i’m not entirely sure where this year has gone. Not only are the Halloween chocolates bombarding you each time you step into a shop, now the supermarkets are stocking up on their Christmas chocolate too. Unfortunately even a little bit of marketing and advertising will entice me in so i better keep up the gym membership!

Each year there is something new and this year is no exception with Galaxy bringing out their ‘Galaxy Gift for You‘ chocolate; this year in white chocolate too. Malteaser have followed suit and bought out their ‘Malteaster‘ bunny re-branded as ‘Merryteaser‘ – basically exactly the same thing but in a reindeer shape not a bunny. Those crafty chocolatiers!

Needless to say i bought both… in October. Oops!

Creative cones

By Sarah Redman
To me ice cream is never boring, especially on a hot day! However in a small ice cream parlour in France they have upped their game and created lovely rose designs out of the ice cream of your choice.

Summer strawberries!

By Sarah Redman

20130607-172406.jpg
These lovely cup cakes have been inspired by face masks would you believe. A girly day with my friend Jem Hill with plans of strawberry and white chocolate face masks, from Montagne Jeunesse, turned into cup cake day!
We headed to the supermarket to see what we could find and resulted in white chocolate chip cup cakes with vanilla butter cream icing and strawberry jam, topped with a fresh British strawberry’s, from our very own Kent #LovingLocal
Have you been baking or been inspired by your beauty products (just like Sophia Webster with her fantastic new shoe range ‘Suede by Sophia‘,  inspired by the new Revlon ColourStay Ultimate Suede Lipsick range – what could be better?) let us know and leave a comment or Tweet us @thesarahsblog

Flattering Frenchies

By Sarah Hugill

With summer coming up why not brighten up your underwear draw with this pack of 3 frenchies for just £6 from Peacocks.

Frenchies from peacocks

After my previous post ‘You can’t go wrong with lace’ featuring another pack of 3 thongs that I reviewed from Peacocks, these frenchies caught my eye, combing lace and silk for a comfy yet stylish feel.  The pack features a white, coral and aqua pair so there’s plenty of choice to compliment any outfit, whether you need a white pair to hide under that crisp white summer dress, or a brighter pair to add to some colour to your outfit, even if it is underneath!

These appear to be great value for money and frenchies are extremely flattering, whether you could be the next ‘bootylicious’ Beyonce or have a more petite shape, they’re give a perfect fit.

‘Sensible Shoes’

By Sarah Redman This is a concept, that to be honest, I never liked. The higher the better, besides i like my legs in ‘Standing Shoes’. However, saying this I was wondering through TK Maxx the other day and came across the … Continue reading
