Summer colours

By Sarah Redman

This lovely little post contains a few outfits for my friend Georgia’s (of Life’s little Ponderings) 20th birthday!

I am loving this sunny weather and so are my girls. So for G’s birthday BBQ and night out we all chose summer brights for our outfits – sorry there are no full length photos (we may have been more focused on the Pimms than the photos).

From L to R: Sarah Redman, Alicia Berman (AB), Georgia Plummer (GP)

I wore my new patterned crop top from New Look (Blue Tribal Print Crop Vest £5.99), AB wore a simple red cami from Miss Selfridge, while birthday girl GP wore a yellow tee from ASOS (Petite top in texture £22.00) and stunning a statement necklace from Zara (retailing between £19.99 & £29.99).

My outfit was completed with a nude body con skirt from H&M and wooden chunky heals from Clarks. AB wore a white skort also from Miss Selfridge (Origami skort £30.00) and her shoes were nude heals from Russell and Bromley. GP competed her look with a floral patterned skort from ASOS (Premium skort in bright floral £35.00) and some awesome wedges from Topshop (Wish Buckle Espadrilles Black £42.00). Yes they are on my wish list so I knew them straight away!

Outfit of the day

By Sarah Hugill

Image

For a smart but casual outfit for my work experience at Absolute Radio i’ve opted for what was my christmas present to myself, a maroon jumper complete with a fresh white shirt attached, from ASOS.

I then chose to wear my jeans courtesy of Topshop, an acid wash pair from the Leigh range. They provide a snug fit, despite the soft and comfortable material.

I then partnered the outfit with my new bag from River Island, you’ve gotta love an updated wardrobe after christmas! The bag is ideal, as when commuting up to London i’m not nearly knocking people out with an inconsiderate monstrosity on my back, that us short legged people hate on escalators! But this bag is spacious enough to fit in all my essentials and the contrast of black and gold makes it eye catching, adding style to any outfit.

Topshop socks deal

By Sarah Redman

Socks are a winter basic and these lovely pairs from Topshop are no different. Both us Sarah’s are a fan of the lacey sock, we own so many pairs between us in all different colours, I figured one more par couldn’t hurt.

Lace trim ankle socks:

I am loving velvet this season so to see some velvet trimmed socks in my favourite colour was fantastic. These socks are so cute and would look great with a chunky black sandal to keep your toes warm!

Plum velvet trim ankle socks:

Finally I think the third pair of socks are so much fun. The gold running through the socks definitely bling’s up your outfit and I think a little bit of gold this time of year makes everything seem that little bit more Christmasy.

Gold fine glitter ankle socks (currently available online in bronze):

These socks were a lovely present from my mum whilst out Christmas shopping together, they retail at £3.50 each or you can buy 3 pairs for £8.00. All the styles are available in a range of colours.

Birthday bash, what to wear?

By Sarah Hugill

Turning 21 is the big one, but turning 20 still felt like a milestone… your suddenly no longer a teenager. Therefore, I decided one night out was just not enough, so it was the mind boggling decision of what to wear and when. I thought i’d share with you my outfit that I wore for Lightbox.

Image

If anyone has been to Lightbox, or a house night in general you’ll know that it gets boiling and layers are just not suitable!

I opted for an all in one black number from Miss Selfridge, with a sheer neckline and sides, adding more style to the top. I paired this with a pair of Miss Selfridge denim shorts, which fitted like a glove! The shorts were tight in the right places, without being too short! I’m always drawn to shorts for a night out as your not restricted on those dance moves!

I then teamed the outfit with a pair of frilly black socks from Topshop, making the outfit more casual and comfortable for the rave.

Throw Back Thursday

#ThrowBackThursday

Here is the studded shoulder of my favourite Topshop Jumper from Autumn / Winter 2012. I have dragged it back out for another season, its so warm, totally oversized and snuggly – despite the studs!

I have been rocking this look with skinny black jeans (ASOS) and black suede boots (Hoads), I chucked my pleather jacket (H&M) on to battle the cold and wacked out the dry shampoo (Batiste) and top knot.

Outfits for the company blog awards

By Sarah Hugill

The Sarah’s style blog was extremely pleased to be invited to the Company Blog awards 2013, in partnership with New Look, as we were shortlisted for the best blogging duo!

Deciding what we were going to wear took some thinking, we wanted to make sure we were dressed appropriately for the occasion while still feeling comfortable and expressing our personal styles.

I took a trip to London… and yes you guessed it ended up in Topshop and was instanly attracted to a bright, heavily patterned, body-con mid dress. After trying it on I was sold. It was eye catching and fitted the description of my ideal outfit… as i’m sure many of you do, I get an idea of exactly what I want to buy before I even hit the shops.

Image

I teamed the dress with a leather jacket, from Red Herring, one so that I didn’t freeze and two because it gave a more edgy, less formal look.

I wore a pair of simple, yet classic black wedges from New Look. I thought they would be comfy due to the wedge heel, but the platform is not large enough in my opinion to balance the height, but no pain no gain! Besides, I’m sure a pair of stilettos would have been more painful! I decided to match my shoes and a clutch bag, as my dress added enough colour to my outfit. I chose a black silk clutch bag, purchased from New Look, complimented by a large bow on the front as it fitted all the essentials I needed.

I then chose a silver necklace (also from New Look) which dressed up the outfit whilst not making it too over powering, as I was already in a fairly bold dress.

Sarah Redman opted for an emerald green tunic dress from Asos, which Sarah decied to dress up with accessories.

Sarah (R) wore adventurous peep- toe, blue and aqua shoes from Zara, which she managed to walk in pretty well… Lets just say I was less quick on my feet!

Sarah brightened up her outfit with her clutch bag, which also matched her shoes (great minds think alike!) Her bag was from Biba, and do not be fooled, despite the clutch looking fairly small it was like a Mary Poppins moment. The amount of items that could fit within the bag was rather impressive, the material was fairly stretchy making it practical yet still stylish.

Sarah teamed her dress with a classic black jacket from Miss Captain, giving a chic feel to her image.

Sarah R blog awards

Sarah (R) never fails to wear a gorgeous ring, and for the blog awards there was no exception. The emerald stone matched her dress, while the amber stone contrasted adding extra interest to her outfit, a birthday present bought from a small boutique in the Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells.

The necklace Sarah (R) chose was another gem from Zara, the sapphire, ruby red and light green stones added texture and dressed up Sarah (R)’s dress, adding to her elegant look.

The whole experience of attending the blog awards was great, we are extremely grateful to all those who voted for us, it was amazing to be selected out of thousands of other fellow bloggers! Besides, it gave us an excuse to buy a whole new outfit – the bank account may have had a shock but we certainly had smiles on our faces!

Get your mittens on this!

By Sarah Hugill

There’s nothing better than finding an item in the sale that you’ve been pondering over for a while!

I’d been eye balling this for ages, but kept thinking to myself – I need to save for summer and resisted temptation at spending £36 on this beaded top from Topshop. However, it was recently reduced to £20, so I saw it as an investment and a saving, as quite frankly it was only a matter of time before I caved!

Topshop beaded top

This top is perfect with a a pair of denim shorts and some converse for a more casual summery look, or a pair of disco pants and some wedges for a night out! The cream beading is delicate and makes the sheerness of the top more classy (a black bra is essential!)

What i’m wearing today

By Sarah Hugill

Despite it being June it’s hardly blue skies, so bare legs could be risky but with a trip to TGI’s with the girls I decided tights with a black topshop skater skirt seemed like a good idea. I teamed it with an acid wash t-shirt also from topshop (yes i’m slightly addicted to topshop.)

Image

In my opinion skater skirts are definitely a must have in every wardrobe. They can be dressed up with a pair of heels and a crop top for a night out, or similar to what I did today, pair it with a casual top and a pair of flats for a more chilled outing.

What I wore today

By Sarah Redman

20130607-192701.jpg
After a few days back working at the lovely Hoads and noticing my colleague Nicola’s style and lovely new purchases, I realised I have been neglecting my ever increasing collection of skirts. So today I have had a little rummage and found my new Primarny (Primark*) maxi skirt complete with thigh high split.
Whilst I love rocking the coloured skinnys as much as the next girl, the sun is out, even if only momentarily… And hey you can always wear tights!
I have teemed this statement block colour skirt with an old light jumper (Dorothy Perkins), statement necklace (Zara), summer sandals (Office), vintage belt (unknown designer) and of course my mandatory summer staple the denim jacket (H&M). Last but not least the Mulbs (Mulberry) #lovelovelove

*now on ASOS, combining the best of the online world with clothes a seven year old could afford to buy with their pocket money… Woop!
