I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything’s right

By Sarah Redman

Yes I chose my title inspiration from Paolo Nutini – if by any chance you don’t know him then have a Google or hit up YouTube or iTunes. At the moment I’m obsessed with his new album, Caustic Love.

The title also has some inference on the point of this post. It doesn’t take a genius: New shoes.

Super Superga

By Sarah Redman

The sun is officially out and for once it doesn’t seem to be going away. Yay.

So I have take the bold step of putting my boots away – even if they are still within easy reach and out come the summer shoes. I’m that person who is permanently cold even when the sun is shining so I have left the sandals alone but instead have dug out the Superga.

My Superga are only a year old but already looking a bit tatty, covered in an array of scuffs, alcohol and nail polish (don’t ask) – I really should take care of the more! My lovely pair are their 2750 Cotu Classic’s in grey sage, retailing at £45.00. These shoes were a great purchase last summer, I can’t believe I’ve never had a pair before they are so comfy and go with everything.

20140319-141929.jpg

My lovely shoes – you know i’m rocking the spotty socks…

The brand Superga, known as ‘the people’s shoes of Italy’ is over 100 years old and focuses mainly on its classic 2750 style, with various remixes and fashion designs each season. It also has an impressive celebrity backing with everyone from Alex Chung through to this seasons Suki Waterhouse endorsing or wearing a pair.

So in true Sarah style I am eyeing up another pair and I thought I would share my top three contenders for this summer with all our lovely readers:

f8e7e5cf8df3d5ffd3e6146dab7989ce

Superga 2750 Cotu Classic – Ottani – £45.00

First up are these great teal colour, for my wardrobe this colour will work well with my style and wardrobe full of summer clothes.

844575916b64a0ac4212e6cb940956df

Superga 2750 Cotu Classic – Dark Bordeaux – £45.00

Secondly, these are just because a bordeaux or burgundy is just a very me colour – so I just love them.

0bc99736e98aa04151bc1febb074274dSuperga 2750 Cotu Classic – Fresh Salmon – £45.00

Lastly, I’m in the summer frame of mind and this fresh salmon hue is a great way to add some colour in your wardrobe even if you are not ready to let go of your jumpers. It’s also a really fun colour!

What do you think of my top three, do you like their classic styles or is it their metallics or animal print ranges for you? Let us know and leave a comment below, Tweet us @thesarahsblog or post on our Facebook page

Trainer heaven

By Sarah Hugill

It’s official judging by my usual choice of footwear, trainers over wedges, converses over stilettos some would say I should have been a boy.

I’m not gonna lie this is how my brain works. I’d much rather be comfortable and shop till I drop, or shuffle my feet at a weekend rave than be the one complaining about how sore my tootsies are!

Image

These babies were brought courtesy of my brother, Chris Hugill. My jaw nearly dropped to the floor. I was definitely not expecting such a good present… can’t say I was complaining though!

I’ve been meaning to post about these Nike Air Max 90s for a while as they’re officially my favourite shoes and simply had to share why!

They have a patent detail, so the shine makes them look slightly more dressy (for trainers) and the contrasting white and black laces make them more eye catching. The fact that they’re black makes it easy to wear with any outfit too!

To check out another trainer purchase of mine have a look at Stylish yet sensible

My new favourite outfit

By Sarah Redman

This year I decided to avoid the sales as much as I could. I took one look at my wardrobe and thought seriously this needs a clear out. Frankly, that bright idea of mind is still sitting on my to do list, but I have done what I consider to be very well in the sales. With only two clothes purchases and one pair of shoes… and a little bit of make-up. But in fairness Boots had some kind of major reduction flash sale just as I finished work… would have been rude not to really.

My new favourite outfit comes from a couple of different places. My first sale purchase was the shoes, with my collection hovering around the 60 pairs I figured one more pair couldn’t hurt. I was right my lovely new Nine West courts definitely don’t hurt my feet! I found these lovelies in the Fenwicks sale for £39.00 reduced from £125.00.

20140123-135247.jpg

My second sale item is this lovely burgundy pencil skirt from Dorothy Perkins, actually bought on my lunch break whilst I was shopping for someone else but it was just sitting there in my size for a tenner. So I snapped it up and even got student discount on my sale purchase – bonus.

20140123-135224.jpg

The last addition is a staple black t-shirt. This is a H&M number I’ve had for a while, although it hasn’t seen many outings. I first bought this in a cream at the beginning of summer and wore it to death, so at the end of the season thought a black version would come in handy for Autumn/Winter. I love the subtle detail of the mesh shoulders and around the neck, this tee also has a gold zip running from the back of the neck through to the end of the mesh.

20140123-135240.jpg

Finally I accessorised with black opaque tights as its winter and there is some serious chill in the air right now. Alongside one of my amazing Christmas presents from my parents, my gold chain and black rope statement necklace.

20140123-135311.jpg

Unfortunately I can’t find my mum’s camera anywhere and for some reason this was the only one in use the night of our belated New Years gathering with old friends of the family, so no photo’s of me on the night! Sorry, although I will post an update when I find a decent photo – or even wear this outfit again.

Hoads fashion event photos

By Sarah Redman

Now this is a post I have been meaning to do for ages, but to be honest uni deadlines have been crazy and somethings have just taken a side step. But two essays done and i’m back and blogging, so I thought I would share my photography for local Sevenoaks shoe store Hoads‘ first fashion evening.

They pride themselves on excellent customer service – you can count on the assistants going the extra mile to help you with whatever you need, from a heel grip to a stylish boot that still works with orthotics. I have so many pairs of shoes from here, rather recently two pairs of gorgeous boots – posts coming soon!

Shoeaholics: Shoe shopping just got even better

By Sarah Redman

20131107-161551.jpg

Shoeaholics.com, my new favourite discount online outlet shoe store. Run by Kurt Geiger, the website sells shoes up to 75% off, with new shoes added every week. You can find anything from Miss KG to Nine West, even Enzo Angiolini. With prices for shoes as low as £10.00 and they also do accessories and mens too!

Last week I finished my TV unit for this year, with deadline mania for a TV news package and a group documentary, I decided I needed an early Christmas present from myself. Thats when I got the email from shoeaholics.com and innocently clicked the link to the site.

My particular purchase just happened to be 90% off – I’m a sucker for a good deal and £150.00 down to £15.00 was just too good for me to by-pass. Especially when these are the shoes I have lusted after since they first came out and I couldn’t justify the price tag on a student budget.

20131107-161603.jpg

My lovely shoes are Chloe by KG * Kurt Geiger in gold faux velvet (or display pairs available) – and I love them!

P.S. Sorry for the later than promised blog post – I ended up powering through my Christmas shopping and was so tired I could barely move, let alone blog.

By Sarah Redman

Picture via Twitter @SalesGossip

Through a cheeky check of Twitter this morning I found everything from a great article on the top ten things you will learn in your first journo job (@journalismnews / journalism.co.uk by @JonesJourno) to where the best sample sales are for November (twentysomethinglondon.com or @twntysmthgnLDN / @SalesGossip).

@SalesGossip is actually where I found this fantastic motivational tweet for a Monday morning, so just thought I would share the picture above. This picture actually works very well for me this particular Monday, as my fantastic new pair of shoes from shoeaholics.com will be arriving later today! Look out for my post on them tomorrow.

The Great Pink Bake Off

By Sarah Redman

Did you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To promote this Breakthrough Breast Cancer have created a few events and money raising opportunities. All their efforts to raise this vital funding go towards continuing Breakthrough’s life-saving work, which improves early diagnosis, develops new treatments and works towards preventing all types of breast cancer. With 1,000 women dying from the disease each month in the UK alone, every penny raised is vital in order to help them create a world freed from breast cancer.

#GreatPinkBakeOff

So whilst this is a belated post / bake, i thought i would raise a bit of awareness for The Great Pink Bake Off even if i couldn’t hold a bake event myself on Friday 18th October 2013. I have been baking my famous cupcakes as per usual, although i branched out and went with a new Mary Berry vanilla cupcake recipe (keeping the Great Bake Off theme). Now my house mates need to get eating!

20131020-162958.jpg

I also went for the Heels and Handbags pink and purple Asda cases just for that added pink to my pink marshmallow decoration.

20131020-163028.jpg

Finally, I know you have all heard of Breakthrough’s award winning TLC (Touch Look Check) campaign, the earlier breast cancer is found the better the chances are of beating it. This is why it is so vital that women make regular checks. It is pretty self explanatory: Touch, Look, Check, being the basis but Breakthrough Breast Cancer have also released a free credit-card sized TLC guide. All you have to do is text SIGNS to 70500 or click HERE to download one.

Not only does the guide detail the key signs and symptoms of breast cancer, it also includes information about what to do if you notice anything unusual. Its handy size means women can keep it somewhere useful, such as in a handbag or on the nightstand, that will act as a helpful reminder to check their breasts. Bonus.
