Accessorising technology

By Sarah Redman

Now for a post containing no nail polish, just to break the trend.

I’m normally pretty boring when it comes to my phone. I think my problem is I can never decide – with internet shopping there is just too much choice.

I eventually managed to decide on this lovely little case. The purple, burgundy, wine hue is a mock crocodile and super shiny and new. My case comes from Amazon, available for only £4.88, with quick delivery… just another accessory to add to my collection!

Lush-ious Lips

By Sarah Redman

Too obvious? I popped into the new Lush store in Tunbridge Wells the other week. I was home and Christmas shopping the day of the store’s opening, so popped in to see what delights they had to offer.

I have always been a Lush fan, ever since finding their fantastic store in Covent Garden, London. The perfumed smell of their stores is enticing and their products are amazing. The idea of fresh handmade cosmetics not tested on animals is great.

#FreshMatters

They have really expanded their brand with their traditional bath bombs and scrumptious soaps through to make up and hair products. Walking around their stores it seems like a little treasure trove, with amazing products made from lovely ingredients, there really is something for everyone.

Alongside a fabulous purchase for myself, I noticed Lush also has some great low price products that are perfect stocking fillers!

My latest purchase is their ‘Mint Julips‘ lip scrub. At the moment I have a wonderful cold and sore throat that just won’t go away, hence I am feeling rather run down and my lips are super dry. This mint choc chip tasting lip scrub contains peppermint, vanilla and tagetes oil. These moisturising oils along side the castor sugar clear away the dead skin from your lips, leaving them moisturised and smooth.

This product is so easy to use, just use your finger to massage a little bit of the product into your lips; this exfoliates the delicate skin whilst the oils moisturise them. This is best done before applying your lip balm or lip stick and you will get the best results if you use it on a fairly regular basis. This may seem like a tiny pot, but you don’t need mush so it lasts a while.

Lush’s lip scrubs are available in ‘Bubblegum‘, ‘Mint Julips‘, ‘Popcorn‘ and ‘Santa’s Lip Scrub‘.

Shoeaholics: Shoe shopping just got even better

By Sarah Redman

20131107-161551.jpg

Shoeaholics.com, my new favourite discount online outlet shoe store. Run by Kurt Geiger, the website sells shoes up to 75% off, with new shoes added every week. You can find anything from Miss KG to Nine West, even Enzo Angiolini. With prices for shoes as low as £10.00 and they also do accessories and mens too!

Last week I finished my TV unit for this year, with deadline mania for a TV news package and a group documentary, I decided I needed an early Christmas present from myself. Thats when I got the email from shoeaholics.com and innocently clicked the link to the site.

My particular purchase just happened to be 90% off – I’m a sucker for a good deal and £150.00 down to £15.00 was just too good for me to by-pass. Especially when these are the shoes I have lusted after since they first came out and I couldn’t justify the price tag on a student budget.

My lovely shoes are Chloe by KG * Kurt Geiger in gold faux velvet (or display pairs available) – and I love them!

P.S. Sorry for the later than promised blog post – I ended up powering through my Christmas shopping and was so tired I could barely move, let alone blog.

Weekend Haul: TK Maxx

By Sarah Redman

I have noticed quite a few ‘shopping haul’ posts on the blogs I follow recently, so thought i would try my hand at it too. This weekend, due to a last minute change of plans my boyfriend surprised me by coming down to Bournemouth to visit. As we are both shopaholics of course we ended up heading to Castle Point shopping park to have a quick nose around. Otherwise known as a walk to get some fresh air, that, a few hours later and with our bank accounts a few pounds lighter!

The TK Maxx at Castle Point, Bournemouth is great – absolutely massive and with lots of great discounts as only TK Maxx can do. I must admit I was very good for me, sticking to one purchase, where as Josh decided to get some great investment pieces.

Leather jacket: DNR (Donar New Recreated, also known as Donar) – £150.00 (Down from £250.00)

Jumper: Tokyo Laundry – £19.99 – Sedgefield

This wool blend jumper has definitely grown on me, when he first picked it up i would have never have pegged it as his usual style, but i have always loved a nice warm over-sized jumper and as luck would have it that is what is needed to complete your autumn / winter 2013 wardrobe – the colours really suit him as well. His other purchase is a really fantastic leather jacket. I personally think a leather jacket is a great classic staple for any wardrobe and if you invest your money wisely and get a real leather jacket rather than the imitation leather found so often on the high street, the jacket will last you years. Don’t get me wrong i will pleather with the best of them – i’m still holding out for the perfect leather jacket. Josh’s jacket is 100% pig skin leather, its got a great worn leather look already and it very soft, whilst still durable. The jacket comes with a detachable furry liner, not shown, (personally i think it makes him look like an old fashioned aviation pilot – but i love the versatility aspect).

Coat: Gharani Strok London – £33.99 (Down from £120.00) Blue textured fabric

Jumper: Besh 5 – £14.99

Jumpers and coats seem to be the theme for this shopping trip. However, the coat was a previous purchase i never blogged about. I love this coat and have a had it for a few weeks now, it has been great on the handful of cold days we have had. The design is very simple and the cut is elegant, so it can be dressed up easily or can work well for everyday wear with boots, jeans and a jumper. The coat is light, yet warm – i love a cuddly jumper so went up a size to make sure i had the room – due to the streamlined cut it doesn’t look too big or frumpy. Bonus. This jumper is pretty much the spitting image of a shirt dress by Mary Katrantzou at Matches that i fell in love with, this is just a way more affordable version for a student! It is combined with the sports jumper style, making it versatile and paired on black; a statement print.

When in Cannes…

By Sarah Redman
… Go shopping! Of course.
I had a great day visiting Cannes for the first time. I have always wanted to go. The pictures from the film festival always look so glamorous and the sea looks gorgeous. It is every bit as gorgeous in real life too and very very hot!
After a wonder around ‘window shopping’ boats in the marina and then along Boulevard de la Croisette (The exclusive designer shopping street with views of the Mediterranean sea) I headed back to the more affordable streets and landed in Mango Touch (the accessories branch of Mango) and unfortunately for the rest of my euros they had a sale on.

20130726-125205.jpg
I found these lovely drop charm earrings (€5.99, down from €12.99) – designed by Mango in Barcelona. The thing I love about Mango Touch earrings is the the hook that goes through your ear as it is more of a clasp, keeping the earrings safely in your ears – no matter how many times you run your fingers through your hair and catch your earrings (hopefully) they won’t be coming out!
