Tartan dress: my new favourite print

By Sarah Hugill

For a dress that is versatile, suitable for a night out on the town with a pair of Chelsea boots or for a more casual look with a pair of converses this dress from Miss Guided is perfect. I wore a statement silver necklace to add to the look and found the dress easy to wear with a skater dress style flattering for most body shapes!

Daring in red

By Sarah Hugill

To mark myself turning 20, of course, I had to do something in Bournemouth.

I borrowed this low v- neckline dress, from my fellow flatmate @rio_blake, you’ve gotta love living with other girls!

The dress is from Miss Guided.

This body-con number ensures to suck you in, in all the right places, and who doesn’t want to stand out on their birthday and with this colour you certainly don’t blend into the crowd!

The little black dress strikes again

By Sarah Hugill

Whatever the occasion, from a funeral accompanied by tights or a night out on the town with a pair of wedges the little black dress never fails to suit.

h&m black dress

The simplicity of a black dress gives a sense of elegance and simplicity, whilst looking sophisticated. The colour ensures to flatter most body shapes, making everyone look more streamlined. I brought this dress from H&M. The material fits snug, with a poka dot sheer neckline to make the dress more appealing on the eye. It is definitely a new favourite of mine, as you can dance the night away without worrying about the hem of the dress creeping past your undies, as for once i’ve chosen a fairly ‘suitable’ length dress! My Nan would be proud!

Every wardrobe needs colour

By Sarah Hugill

With christmas around the corner I decided it was time I updated my dress collection, by adding this Motel Rocks dress.

Motel rocks dress

The splattered paint effect pattern is sure to make you stand out from those wearing the classic ‘little black dress’. The dress is fairly flattering on most shapes due to the eye catching print, but the material does have a habit of rising up and since its an already fairly short dress – you have been warned…. pulling down the dress at regular intervals is a necessity!

Overall, I’m really pleased with the dress, as its figure hugging yet comfortable. It is a statement dress screaming out with contrasting colours.

Trendy in tie-dye

By Sarah Hugill

Feel cool and comfortable with this tie-dye dress from Miss guided, perfect for those summer nights.

tie dye dress is maya

This has become a wardrobe favourite of mine, adding to my tie-dye collection. The loose material is flattering and ideal in the heat! I’ve recently came back off holiday to Magaluf, where as you can imagine the clubs swamp you with humidity! I teamed the dress with one of my statement necklaces

Nail polish Revision

Taking a break from a bad PA revision session and end up buying two Ciate nail kits and a mint green Asos shift dress… oops!

A girl can never have too much nail polish. Fact.

Any guilty purchases you are enjoying instead of revision at the moment?

The simplicity of a black dress

By Sarah Hugill

I thought i’d share with you my recent purchase from Forever 21, as a fellow fan of ‘the little black dress’ I couldn’t resist temptation with this studded body-con.

forever 21 dress

Whatever the season, personally, I always think a black dress is always a safe bet, it’s slimming yet still classy and is easy to team up with a pair of bright wedges and matching clutch bag for a more summery look, or can be worn with a pair of black stilettos for a more ‘elegant’ image.

I loved the shape of the neckline of this dress and I feel the studs compliment it well, giving a more edgy look.

Spring / Summer 2013 Style Guide: Boden – Great British Style

By Sarah Redman

Boden - Great British Style

Boden – Great British Style

Loving this brand at the moment, having grown up with my mum wearing it most summers in France, I feel at home in its comfortable chic style.

Having accepted a few hammy downs recently (student budget) – personally i prefer to call it ‘vintage clothes my mum bought when she had more money than i probably ever will’… has a bit more of a ring to it don’t you think? I was happy to see this Jersey Maxi Dress (WH504) – £89.00 in their spring /summer range for 2013.

This style is so easy to wear and has been used for a similar dress a few seasons ago (vintage mum dress), last summer I wore with gold  sandals and a floppy hat, never belting as it is too much on the print – however with this SS13 number, there are two plain versions  which would work perfectly with a thin metallic belt, like this ASOS Metallic Aztec Metal Keeper Super Skinny Waist Belt – £6.00. Hey – you’ll have already bought the dress give your purse strings a break… besides we all love ASOS and aztec metal print is just a bonus!

Or if you are going all out Boden I suggest the following to mix and match as you wish:

  • Floppy Felt Hat (AD126) – £39.00
  • Metal Disk Necklace (AK212) – £29.00
  • Peep Toe Espadrilles (AR576) – £59.00 to £79.00
  • Chelsea Bag (AM170) – £149.00
  • Cat’s Eye Shades (AV063) – £49.00
  • Suede Demi-Wedges (AR574) – £69.00 (Please chose the bright blue if teeming with the black maxi – it’s summer – you can’t be head to toe black, not even in the evenings! Show a little skin or get your brights on)
  • Boho Boots (AZ162) – £110.00 (To be worn in England – where summer is never really summer) #TheSarahsLove #WeWant

Boden always have great summer essentials, for when it’s too hot to think of something ‘super awesome, totally chic, fashionable and now’ to wear – because seriously who has the time? I will be sporting a few pieces from them in my summer wardrobe for those days when i just feel like minimal accessorizing.

One more added bonus to Boden – If you are a first time buyer they will send you a FREE scarf worth £19.

My thoughts: It would be rude not to buy really…
