Summer songs to top your playlist’s

By Sarah Redman

This has never been a music blog but I never really manage to write a post without a bit of music in the background so I thought I would share my top three favourites that seem to be on repeat this week.

1) Milky Chance – Stolen Dance

I heard this one on radio one the other night and haven’t stopped playing it since. I’m just loving the chilled out summer vibes.

2) Klingande – Jubel

This one has been a favourite of mine for a while – it is so easy to work to and also awesome to have blaring out of your speakers.

3) Tiësto – Wasted ft. Matthew Koma

Finally, I like this one because it optimises me and my best girlies: Georgia Thomas & Georgia Plummer

What do you think? Have you heard them all before or do you have any music recommendations? Let us know and comment below, Tweet us @thesarahsblog or post on our Facebook page.

TSSB Edit: Top 15 ASOS Swimsuits

By Sarah Redman & Georgia Thomas

This is TSSB’s first colab post so we hope you like it…

When summertime comes around most 20-somethings we know reach for the bikini – it’s simple, cheap, easy and you can even mix and match. So we thought we would step outside the box and dedicate a post to the cosy. No longer the black or blue sensible suit you used to wear when you learnt to swim; ASOS‘s collection offers something for everyone – different sizes, shapes and styles.

We have put together a collection of our favourite fifteen swimsuits on ASOS.com – trust us it took a while to narrow it down!

These are in no particular order – although we may have commented on those that are our personal favourites

1) American Apparel Tricot Maillot One Piece Swimsuit (RRP £31.00 – Sale price £22.00)

American Apparel metalic £22.00

First up is this American Apparel number – its simple and elegant, yet still has that ‘something a little different’ element thanks to the metallic colour and the plunging v.

2) ASOS Cross Front Wrap Halter Swimsuit (RRP £28.00)

ASOS cross front wrap £28.00

This one basically just looks like a bikini – but not split – just an intriguing wrap around in a fantastic pool side turquoise.

3) ASOS Deep Plunge Ruffle Swimsuit (RRP £35.00 – Sale price £25.00)

Asos deep plunge ruffle £35

A personal favourite of Sarah (R)

The coral colour compliments a tan and this cosy covers you up whilst the plunging v is eye catching and the ruffles are not just fabulous but could hid a multitude of sins.

4) ASOS Kaleidoscope Floral Lattice Cut Out Triangle Swimsuit (RRP £30.00)

ASOS Kaleidoscope £30

Weird tan line warning!

So much love for the pattern on this one and to be honest for the cut out too. It’s so quirky yet still girly and cute – although we think it might be struggle to put on if you’re not concentrating!

5) ASOS Leaf Print Cut Out Bandeau Swimsuit (RRP £32.00)

ASOS Leaf print cut out £32

A personal favourite of Georgia (T)

We are loving a strong print this summer and this tropical leaf print is on point. Combined with the ever popular cut out this is simple suit with a beach feel.

6) ASOS Monochrome Feather Print Swimsuit (RRP £32.00 – Sale price £22.00)

ASOS Monochrome Feather £32

A simpler style with a bolder cut out, this monochrome feather print cosy remains classic and stylish in an unobtrusive way.

7) ASOS Sunflower Cut Out Cupped Swimsuit (RRP £35.00 – Sale price £21.00)

ASOS Sunflower cut out £35

Another cut out – clearly the only way to go with your cosy. This one has a colourful floral print and can be worn with or without straps.

8) Bikini Lab Fringe Ferdinand Monokini Swimsuit (RRP £52.00)

Bikini lab fringed £52

A personal favourite from both of us

It’s safe to say we love the fringing on this particular cosy. The relaxed bohemian style is fun yet elegant and would also look great with shorts not just round the pool.

9) Juicy Couture Wildcat Print Zip Front Swimsuit (RRP £105.00)

Juicy couture aniamal £105

One for the animal lovers out there – this partially printed suit has a classic shape but still has lots of character.

10) Lolli Cake Walk Cut Out Bow One Piece Swimsuit (RRP £115.00)

Lolli Cake black bow £115

A personal favourite of Georgia (T) & Weird tan line warning!

Yeah it’s going to look weird when you take this off and just have a patch of tan on your stomach – but it’s super cute on and really who’s going to see?! It may be pain old black which seems to be steered away from when choosing a one piece but the bow leaves this cosy with a youthful feel.

11) New Look Twist Detail Swimsuit (RRP £19.99)

New Look black simple £19.99

Simple, elegant and classic. You can’t really go wrong with this one – its classic shape is also supportive and adjustable thanks to the halter-neck.

12) Oasis Digital Rose Print Swimsuit (RRP £45.00)

Oasis floral £45

A personal favourite of Sarah (R)

We think this is an awesome floral print on this structured Oasis suit. This classic style still manages to look modern and fresh with this pattern. A great cover up for someone with a classic style.

13) Panache D-G Chloe Pippa Bandeau Swimsuit (RRP £46.00 – Sale price £19.50)

Panache cute bandau £19.50

This suit is classic and demure, the cute pattern keeps the design playful whilst the coral band around the bandeau neck line gives this cosy a grown up feel.

14) Tommy Hilfiger Palm Springs Scuba Swimsuit (RRP £85.00 – Sale price £42.00)

Tommy Hilfiger scuba £85

Now this one is a little different, the look is more of an adjusted scuba suit but there is something for everyone on ASOS. The bright summer colours are eye catching and fun – and the chances someone else has the same suit as you?

15) We Are Handsome The Pantera Scoop One Piece Swimsuit (RRP £213.00 – Sale price £137.00)

We Are Handsome big cat £213

A personal favourite of Georgia (T)

Finally the boldest one on the list. This suit is quirky and completely different, plus everyone loves a big cat with beaut eyes!

Lily flames

By Sarah Redman

IMG_2674

This lovely addition to my candle collection comes from Somerset company Lily-Flame. I received their Fairy Dust (invisible and true) candle for Christmas from my lovely friend Georgia Thomas. After sampling their most popular candle I can see the attraction and have been hooked ever since.

This Verbena (A summer in Provence) hooked me not only by the name, as this is my summer destination of choice, but also by the amazing fresh and summery scent. This one definitely brightens up any room.

IMG_2677

Lily-Flame has a range of products with both full size and mini scented tins, scented glassware, room mist sprays and reed diffusers. I absolutely love the quirky look of these candles and how the coloured wax melts into the rest of the candle releasing even more of the luscious scents.

Lily-Flame was established in 1994 and they make all their products by hand in the heart of the Somerset countryside. This has lead them to become one of the UK’s favourite scented candle manufacturers.

My next purchase is hopefully going to be a more fruity affair: Mango Fandango (hot, hot, hot!) This is ‘the worlds tangiest, most mango-ey candle’ – I popped into a local supplier in Sevenoaks today (The Lemon Tree) to check the scent lived up to the name. So I think I’ll just add this 35 hour burning candle to my wish list now.

I also have another on the wish list: Parma Violets (The sweetest feeling). Yes, exactly like the sweets – I became a big kid in a sweet shop when I smelt this one. Definitely another must have.

To complete my small but growing collection: Taste of Provence (Marjoram, Thyme, Rosemary and Sage). Described as “culinary perfection” I found this one on their website and have yet to try it out but this one sounds right up my street – again with the Provence.

What do you think of my candle addiction? Or have you tried Lily-Flame before? Let us know and leave a comment below, Tweet us @thesarahsblog or post on our Facebook page.

Summer colours

By Sarah Redman

This lovely little post contains a few outfits for my friend Georgia’s (of Life’s little Ponderings) 20th birthday!

I am loving this sunny weather and so are my girls. So for G’s birthday BBQ and night out we all chose summer brights for our outfits – sorry there are no full length photos (we may have been more focused on the Pimms than the photos).

IMG_2797

From L to R: Sarah Redman, Alicia Berman (AB), Georgia Plummer (GP)

I wore my new patterned crop top from New Look (Blue Tribal Print Crop Vest £5.99), AB wore a simple red cami from Miss Selfridge, while birthday girl GP wore a yellow tee from ASOS (Petite top in texture £22.00) and stunning a statement necklace from Zara (retailing between £19.99 & £29.99).

My outfit was completed with a nude body con skirt from H&M and wooden chunky heals from Clarks. AB wore a white skort also from Miss Selfridge (Origami skort £30.00) and her shoes were nude heals from Russell and Bromley. GP competed her look with a floral patterned skort from ASOS (Premium skort in bright floral £35.00) and some awesome wedges from Topshop (Wish Buckle Espadrilles Black £42.00). Yes they are on my wish list so I knew them straight away!

Tattoo trends

By Sarah Redman

Recently I have noticed there has been a small resurrection of the ‘Temporary Tattoo’ and this time they’re a bit different.

My first thought, I’m not going to lie, was oh please don’t be those annoying glittery transfer sticker things from way back when – as a 90’s kid I remember a few dodgy versions of the temporary tattoo which left you with a pealing mess after one wash. Not a fan.

My second thought was ohh awesome, I’m so awful with pain so to sit in the chair and actually get inked up sounds kinda like hell to me, no matter how lovely the outcome. This however has not stopped me doodling all over my wrists and hands the second I’m bored with a pen in my hand!

Earlier in the year I uploaded a small post concerning a new nail art trend. The cuticle tattoo. I have finally got my hands on some (as a small birthday treat to myself – £3.99 Bourjois Nail Tattoo Kit in Graphic from one of my favourites Asos.com – also available in Arty Tropics).

Forever unconventional, I decided cuticles were not enough for this product and got creative with a little pattern on my feet.

Cheating on blogging with magazines

By Sarah Redman

Hi all our lovely readers!

We firstly want to say a big sorry for another massive break from blogging and thanks for sticking with us. As we are both currently at university sometimes we have to put our course first and with deadlines and exams throughout May and June we have been a little busy to say the least!

Sarah (H) jetted off to Egypt this morning for a lovely little holiday with her beau – but in her absence I thought I would start up blogging again. I am hopefully off to sunny Cornwall next week, but I’m sure I will have to odd five minutes to blog my adventures with the girls.

Now to explain this post’s heading. Not only have I been busy with uni but I have also been writing a few pieces for inside KENT magazine! The June issue is out now across Kent – if you are in the area then check your local Waitrose for a copy, if not then don’t worry they also have an online issue. Just click HERE to view it or HERE to see previous issues.

Or have a look at a few of my favourite pieces from inside the magazine and the blog:

Super Superga

By Sarah Redman

The sun is officially out and for once it doesn’t seem to be going away. Yay.

So I have take the bold step of putting my boots away – even if they are still within easy reach and out come the summer shoes. I’m that person who is permanently cold even when the sun is shining so I have left the sandals alone but instead have dug out the Superga.

My Superga are only a year old but already looking a bit tatty, covered in an array of scuffs, alcohol and nail polish (don’t ask) – I really should take care of the more! My lovely pair are their 2750 Cotu Classic’s in grey sage, retailing at £45.00. These shoes were a great purchase last summer, I can’t believe I’ve never had a pair before they are so comfy and go with everything.

20140319-141929.jpg

My lovely shoes – you know i’m rocking the spotty socks…

The brand Superga, known as ‘the people’s shoes of Italy’ is over 100 years old and focuses mainly on its classic 2750 style, with various remixes and fashion designs each season. It also has an impressive celebrity backing with everyone from Alex Chung through to this seasons Suki Waterhouse endorsing or wearing a pair.

So in true Sarah style I am eyeing up another pair and I thought I would share my top three contenders for this summer with all our lovely readers:

f8e7e5cf8df3d5ffd3e6146dab7989ce

Superga 2750 Cotu Classic – Ottani – £45.00

First up are these great teal colour, for my wardrobe this colour will work well with my style and wardrobe full of summer clothes.

844575916b64a0ac4212e6cb940956df

Superga 2750 Cotu Classic – Dark Bordeaux – £45.00

Secondly, these are just because a bordeaux or burgundy is just a very me colour – so I just love them.

0bc99736e98aa04151bc1febb074274dSuperga 2750 Cotu Classic – Fresh Salmon – £45.00

Lastly, I’m in the summer frame of mind and this fresh salmon hue is a great way to add some colour in your wardrobe even if you are not ready to let go of your jumpers. It’s also a really fun colour!

What do you think of my top three, do you like their classic styles or is it their metallics or animal print ranges for you? Let us know and leave a comment below, Tweet us @thesarahsblog or post on our Facebook page

Trainer heaven

By Sarah Hugill

It’s official judging by my usual choice of footwear, trainers over wedges, converses over stilettos some would say I should have been a boy.

I’m not gonna lie this is how my brain works. I’d much rather be comfortable and shop till I drop, or shuffle my feet at a weekend rave than be the one complaining about how sore my tootsies are!

Image

These babies were brought courtesy of my brother, Chris Hugill. My jaw nearly dropped to the floor. I was definitely not expecting such a good present… can’t say I was complaining though!

I’ve been meaning to post about these Nike Air Max 90s for a while as they’re officially my favourite shoes and simply had to share why!

They have a patent detail, so the shine makes them look slightly more dressy (for trainers) and the contrasting white and black laces make them more eye catching. The fact that they’re black makes it easy to wear with any outfit too!

To check out another trainer purchase of mine have a look at Stylish yet sensible
